About the Event
This will be a complete immersion experience and include audience participation with very special guests. Tom will explore how water can manipulate sound, be the sound itself, and explore the therapeutic power of water itself. He will pay homage to the Native American culture surrounding the Potomac River. In Native American culture, water is thought to have cleansing power; and symbolizes many things, including life and death, strength, change, healing, dreaming, and unconditional love. Tom will also draw on his extensive travels as a cultural envoy for the U.S. Department of State including instruments from the Middle East, China, Korea, South America, and beyond.
Tom Teasley has been awarded seven Fulbright-Hayes Awards for his multiple trips abroad. He is a “Drummie “World Percussionist of the Year” recipient, earned three Helen Hayes Awards for theater sound design as numerous Wammie Awards for World Musician of the Year. As we find ourselves on the other side of “the new normal,” please join us for this healing, entertaining program to feel refreshed, empowered, and cleansed.
