The Athenaeum sits at the crest of Captain's Row, the cobblestoned 100 block of Prince Street. It is one block south of the King Street thoroughfare.

The King Street Metro is about 14 blocks away and links directly to free trolley service that serves all of King Street.

Street parking is possible, but difficult, at peak times there are several garages nearby.
