Wammie-award winning band Dead Men's Hollow will perform both Civil War songs and their own songs that deal with the Civil War and its aftermath. Between the songs, local actors will read letters and diary entries written by soldiers and civilians during the Civil War.
Actors will read letters from Generals Lee, Pickett, and Forrest, from a black soldier to his enslaved daughters, and from other soldiers, nurses and civilians. Of particular local interest will be diary entries by Isabel Emerson, an Alexandria girl who recorded events from the beginning of the war, through the South¹s surrender.
A coffee and dessert reception donated by Whole Foods will follow the performance.
