Rental of the Athenaeum The Athenaeum is available for rental for wedding ceremonies, receptions, parties, business meetings and seminars.The
building is a beautiful setting for an event, and was listed in January
1997 and January 1998 Washingtonian magazine as one of the ten best
places to have a party in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.Imagine
you and your guests enjoying a special art exhibit amidst one of the
few remaining examples of neo-classical Greek Revival architecture in
historic Alexandria.Whether for business or pleasure,
having your event in this Virginia landmark property, picturesque
inside and out, will create the memories of a lifetime for you and your
guests.
There are two
galleries (measuring 28’x42’ and 28’x14’) on the main floor, two
restrooms, a catering kitchen downstairs and a large space for food
preparation.The Athenaeum galleries will accommodate 165 for a standing function and up to 200 if the charming walled garden is included.The building will accommodate 80 for seated dining with a band and dance floor and up to 100 for seated dining only.
Fees are $250 per hour ($150 per hour for certified non-profit organizations). There is a five hour minimum rental on Saturdays, and a three hour minimum at all other times. The building is not available for rent Thursday through Sunday, noon to four. (Though move in and set up may begin through the back door and downstairs from three to four on those days.) The Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association requires renters of the Athenaeum be members at the Sponsor level. A signed contract and deposit are required to
hold your date.
